The plastic bristle (5) comprises a core (6), which is formed from mutually parallel, interconnected plastic filaments (7), and a plastic sheath (8) which encloses said core (6). The filaments (7) project beyond the sheath (8) at the active end (5a) of the bristle (5). This is achieved by the end (5a) of the bristles (5) being rounded, the sheath (8) being removed mechanically by this operation.
