The invention relates to plastic materials which can be detected by X-ray contrast. Said plastic materials comprise low-molecular iodine compounds. The invention also relates to a method for producing said plastic materials and to the utilisation of low-molecular iodine compounds for improving the X-ray contrast in transparent plastic materials and to toys containing low-molecular iodine compounds and having an improved X-ray contrast.
