The invention relates to a plastic optical fiber in which the core of the fiber comprised of a low-loss, light guiding plastic is surrounded by an inner, low-loss layer of a smaller refractive index and by an outer, stronger light-absorbing layer. According to the invention, the core of the fiber comprised of low-loss, light guiding plastic can also be surrounded by a light- absorbing layer.

L'invention concerne une fibre optique en matière plastique dont le coeur est constitué d'une matière plastique photoconductrice à faible atténuation et entouré d'une couche à faible atténuation d'un indice de diffraction plus petit et d'une couche extérieure absorbant plus fortement la lumière.
