An apparatus for making containers (13) such as bottles, pots or any other hollow body by heat treating then blow-moulding plastic parisons (1). The apparatus comprises at least two moulds (41, 44) arranged around the edge of a carousel, said moulds being book moulds each having at least two mould cavities. The apparatus further comprises a device for conveying and supporting the parisons along a path lined with heat treatment stations, in which path the spacing between the longitudinal axes of two consecutive parisons is smaller than between those of two adjacent cavities in one mould, as well as a system (5A) for varying the parison spacing between the conveyor and a mould.
