A low-cost, light-weight, high strength, highly resilent plastic strapping tie is of simple, substantially rectangular extruded form. Enlarged rounded edges facilitate knotting and releasing knots in the tie. The tie may be used in combination with adjustable tie attachment means. One attachment embodiment is slip-on attachment spring ring coil that can be applied anywhere along the length of a tie, for tie-down attachment and may also be used to join adjoining lengths of the strapping, to form a tie of extended length. One such embodiment has a resilient extendable attachment hook portion. The subject strapping tie may be knotted and readily unknotted, even after loading. Polyurethane straps may have loads up to 8,000 pounds per square inch of strap cross section. Spiral spring ring attachments are small and light, with a number of arrangements. Further tie attachments include rectilinear hooks about which the tie may be wound, the hook portion engaging a tie point. A protective elastomer sleeve may be used to shroud the point of the hook, or to secure it to a load or a "tarp" by enclosing its bight. Certain of the embodiments may be used as line tensioners, for tensioning an installed tie.
