ABSTRACT A transmission brake band is disclosed in which the strap is made of a filament-reinforced plastic material. The filament-reinforced plastic material con- sists of a matrix of plastic in which are embedded a multiplicity of filaments. The plastic material is preferably a thermosetting epoxy which when cured provides a strap which is exceptionally flexible and resilient for compliance with a braking surface. The reinforcing filaments enhance the strength of the strap.
