PLASTIC TUBE BRANCH FITTING FOR GAS SERVICE CONNECTOR Abstract of the Disclosure The side outlet branch connection of a gas service connector is internally threaded at the first and third of three success- ively enlarged diametral steps which are shoulder separated from inlet to outlet. Secured extending outward from the innermost thread and adapted to support received plastic tubing is a tubular metal insert. The insert is formed from about its central portion to its outboard end in tandem sections of increasing diameter, each of which includes a plurality of longitudinally spaced concentric ribs. The intervening spacings between ribs in each of the tan- dem sections are of controlled dimension and diameter relative to initial wall thickness of tube being received. A gasket surround- ing received tubing on the insert in the third of the diametral steps is axially compressed by a nut screw threaded thereat until radial distortion of the gasket deforms the surrounded tubing into a tensile interlock about the smaller diameter rib section of the insert. 1a
