(57) Abstract This invention relates to tetraalkylpyromellitates as plasticisers for PVC for use in articles for biomedical use. The pyromellitates are less toxic the conventionally used phthalates and trimellitates and are extracted less readity by the bi- ological fluids in contract therewith. The articles that can be priduced with PVC plasticised in this manner include dialysis tubes, catheters and blood bags.
