Compositions and method for plasticizing polyvinyl chloride polymers where the plasticizers contain fatty acids derived from vegetable oils and the fatty acids are substantially fully esterfied with an alcohol (monool or polyol), the fatty acids having unsaturated bonds that are substantially fully epoxidized, and wherein the fatty acids are added substantially randomly to one or more hydroxyl sites on the alcohol. The plasticizers may be added in amounts between about 10 to 230 pph of PVC resin.

La présente invention concerne des compositions et un procédé utiles pour plastifier des polymères de polychlorure de vinyle dans lesquels les plastifiants renferment des acides gras provenant d'huiles végétales. Les acides gras sont sensiblement estérifiés avec un alcool (mono-alcool ou polyol), comportent des liaisons insaturées qui sont sensiblement entièrement époxydées et ils sont ajoutés de manière sensiblement aléatoire à au moins un site hydroxyle sur l'alcool. Les plastifiants peuvent être ajoutés suivant des quantités comprises entre environ 10 et 230 lb/h de résine PVC.
