A plate-type oil cooler for cooling engine oil or transmission fluid includes a plurality of plate-like tubes each having a flow disrupting core therein. An inlet and an outlet are defined at opposite ends of the oil cooler. Hot oil flows into the cooler from the inlet and cooled oil flows out from the outlet. There are cooling fins located between every two adjacent plate-like tubes to increase the cooling area. This type of oil cooler is commonly located in a radiator of a vehicle.
