A sprinkler head assembly includes a bronze-cast, barrel-plated sprinkler head having a jewel-like, chromium-simulating surface, which is bright and shiny like chrome plating. The sprinkler head is plated by a relatively inexpensive barrel-plating process that utilized relatively inexpensive barrel-plating process that utilizes relatively low cost plating materials and is less labor intensive than chrome plating. The plated coating provides a durable and corrosion-resistant coating having an aesthetic chrome-like appearance and good physical properties including crack resistance. A process including barrel plating a sprinkler head with a jewel-like, chrome-simulating coating is also disclosed.
