ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: Graphitized carbon support has a basal plane area of greater than 100 m2/g, a ration of BET surface area to basal surface area of less than 2:1 and a ratio of basal plane area to edge surface area of at least 5:1 The support is highly crystalline on the surface and readily accepts catalytic metals. A platinum group metal is applied to prepare a reforming catalyst.
