A method and catalysts for producing a hydrogen-rich syngas are disclosed. According to the method a CO-containing gas contacts a water gas shift (WGS) catalyst, optionally in the presence of water, preferably at a temperature of less than about 450~C to produce a hydrogen-rich gas, such as a hydrogen-rich syngas. Also disclosed is a water gas shift catalyst formulated from: a) Pt, its oxides or mixtures thereof; b) Ru, its oxides or mixtures thereof; and c) at least one of Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Sc, Y, Ti, Zr, V, Mo, Mn, Fe, Co, Rh, Ir, Ge, Sn, Sb, La, Ce, Pr, Sm, and Eu. Another disclosed catalyst formulation comprises Pt, its oxides or mixtures thereof; Ru, its oxides or mixtures thereof; Co, its oxides or mixtures thereof; and at least one of Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Sc, Y, Ti, Zr, V, Mo, Mn, Fe, Rh, Ir, Ge, Sn, Sb, La, Ce, Pr, Sm, and Eu, their oxides and mixtures thereof. The WGS catalyst may be supported on a carrier, such as any one member or a combination of alumina, zirconia, titania, ceria, magnesia, lanthania, niobia, zeolite, perovskite, silica clay, yttria and iron oxide. Fuel processors containing such water gas shift catalysts are also disclosed.

L'invention porte sur un procédé et sur des catalyseurs de production de gaz riche en hydrogène selon lequel un gaz à teneur en CO est mis en contact avec un catalyseur de conversion de gaz à l'eau (WGS), facultativement en présence d'eau, et de préférence à une température inférieure à environ 450 ·C pour donner un gaz riche en hydrogène tel qu'un gaz de synthèse. L'invention porte également sur un catalyseur de conversion de gaz à l'eau comprenant: a) du Pt, ses oxydes ou leur mélange; b) du Ru, ses oxydes ou leur mélange; et c) l'un au moins des éléments suivants: Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Sc, Y, Ti, Zr, V, Mo, Mn, Fe, Co, Rh, Ir, Ge, Sn, Sb, La, Ce, Pr, Sm, et Eu. L'invention porte en outre sur une autre formule de catalyseur comprenant: du Pt, ses oxydes ou leur mélange; du Ru, ses oxydes ou leur mélange; du Co, ses oxydes ou leur mélange; et l'un au moins des éléments suivants: Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Sc, Y, Ti, Zr, V, Mo, Mn, Fe, Rh, Ir, Ge, Sn, Sb, La, Ce, Pr, Sm, et Eu, leurs oxydes et leur mélange. Le catalyseur WGS peut être placé sur un support d'un des matériaux suivants: alumine, zircone, oxyde de titane, oxyde de cérium, magnésie, oxyde de lanthane, oxyde de niobium, zéolite, pérovskite, argile de silice, oxyde d'yttrium et oxyde de fer, ou de leurs combinaisons.
