An electrocatalyst comprising an alloy of platinum with a base metal selected from the group consisting of gallium, vanadium, chromium, manganese, iron, cobalt, nickel and copper, having a structure of vacant lattice site type lattice defects; the alloy being supported on a conductive carbon powder. The electrocatalyst is useful as a platinum-supported catalyst for an electrode, and has a superior electrochemical oxygen reduction activity and has platinum alloy particles having less base metal component.
Électrocatalyseur renfermant un alliage de platine avec un métal commun, choisi dans le groupe suivant : gallium, vanadium, chrome, manganèse, fer, cobalt, nickel, cuivre. Il a une structure de type à défauts, sites de réseaux vides; l'alliage est sur un support de poudre de carbone conductrice. L'électrocatalyseur est utile sur support de platine et possède une activité supérieure de réduction de l'oxygène électrochimique; enfin, il comporte des particules d'alliage de platine avec moins de métaux communs.
