A play area surface treat- ment is provided comprising, from top to bottom: a layer of polymeric mesh, a layer of land- scape separator, six inches of ground rubber buffing, a sec- ond layer of landscape separa- tor and six inches of pea gravel as a base material. Addition- ally, a protective edging is pro- vided which is attached to the top layer of nylon woven mesh and provides a protective edg- ing surrounding the play area.
