A pleated blind is disclosed including a head rail, a bottom rail and an expandable and collapsible shade extending between them and divided up into a plurality of pleats by fold lines. A row of apertures passes through each pleat to permit passage of a supporting cord. The supporting cord consists of a central yarn and a series of equally spaced polymeric rungs. The rungs are spaced at equal intervals along the cord, the spacing between the rungs being substantially equal to the maximum distance between the head rail and the bottom rail divided by the number of pleats in the shade. In this way, the rungs, which are of sufficient length to span the sides of the apertures, will support their respective pleats and prevent the pleats from opening up too widely, thus ensuring that the pleat spacing remains substantially even.
