A lifting system for a two-way plow using a chain suspension including a snubbing chain that deflects one of the lifting chains when the plow is angled sideways when elevated. This deflection of the lifting chain shortens its span and increases the lift provided to the outer, retiring end of the plow. This improves the clearance of the plow scrapping blade above the road surface 17
