A tool for capturing and retaining a pump down plug (pp) or ball which has been released from equipment above in a well bore, concealing the pump down plug (pp) from subsequent flow of fluid or other material through the tool, and diverting flow from a normal circulation port (18) toward a bypass port (20) through the tool. The pump down plug (pp) seats in, and closes, the circulation port (18), where the pump down plug is then retained by a tubular receptacle (26). Increased fluid pressure then shears the tool body (14) loose from its housing (12), moving it downward to a position lower in the housing. This opens the path through which the pump down plug was released from above. A further pressure increase can be used to open the bypass port (20) through the tool body. When the tool body is released from its first position, a diverter (30) can close over the tubular receptacle and divert movement of fluid and other material away from the area of the circulation port (18) and toward the bypass port (20).
L'invention concerne un outil permettant de capturer et de retenir une bille ou un bouchon de fond de pompe qui a été libéré de l'équipement dans un forage de puits, à dissimuler ledit bouchon d'un flux subséquent de fluide ou d'une autre matière à travers l'outil, et à dévier le flux d'un orifice de circulation normal (18) vers un orifice de dérivation (20) à travers l'outil. Ledit bouchon de fond de pompe repose sur et ferme l'orifice de circulation (18), où le bouchon est alors retenu par un réceptable tubulaire (26). Une pression de fluide accrue desserre alors le corps de l'outil (14) de son logement (12), le déplace vers le bas à une position inférieure dans ledit logement. La voie à travers laquelle ledit bouchon a été libéré, s'ouvre. Une autre augmentation de la pression peut être utilisée pour ouvrir l'orifice de dérivation (20) à travers le corps de l'outil. Lorsque le corps de l'outil est libéré de sa première position, un dispositif de déviation (30) peut refermer le réceptacle tubulaire et dévier le mouvement du fluide et d'une autre matière de la zone de l'orifice de circulation (18) en direction de l'orifice de dérivation (20).
