ABSTRACT A plunger restraining or locking device for preventing unwanted movement of a moveable body. The restraining device utilizes a plunger body carrying a rotatable key tumbler body which as a unit is axially slideably mounted in a main cylinder which is fixedly mounted in a stationary body. The slideable plunger-key tumbler, assembly is spring biased to a restraining or locking position protruding from the main cylinder. The plunger-key tumbler assembly is designed to be locked in either the protruding restraining or locking position or the withdrawn releasing or unlocked position by means of a transversley slideable detent actuated by an eccentric pin mounted on the key tumbler for moving the detent to engage and be held by the main cylinder. The plunger-key tumbler assembly is controlled in its axially slideable movement by a guide pin and guide slot and limited axially by a main cylinder shoulder in one direction and an end cap protrusion in the other direction.
