The plantar arch support, as a component of the shoe, is conceived as having an orthopedic role, mainly for children as users or with a view to improve the best distribution of the body weight on the support surface of the foot, in case of all users. The use of the plantar arch support results in an increased contact surface between foot and insole and consequently more comfortable to wear. The use of the rigid arch support can cause a partial or total malfunction of the middle segment of the foot, i.e. the longitudinal and transversal plantar arch, which can cause an atrophy of the complex system formed by bones, joints and muscles. When using semirigid plantar arch support, with a certain degree of elasticity, the contact between thes supports and the foot is obtained by copying it, a difficult and expensive thing to do, that has to be done for each type of foot; if this contact is approximative, the function of the support becomes ineffective. The object of the present invention is constituted of the pneumatic plantar arch support, materialized in the form of a cushion with a specially-designed shape, using sheets of polyethylene, pvc, rubber, airproof textiles or other kinds of elastic-plastic, thermo-weldable, vulcanizable materials or materials that can form airproof joinings, filled with air or other gaseous mixtures. Depending on the use of the plantar arch support, for children or adults' shoes, for casual or sports wear, etc, the pneumatic cushion of the support can be filled with a smaller or bigger quantity of air and the inner pressure of the air will vary accordingly. Thus the role of sustaining the foot arches as well as that of increasing the contact surface between the foot and the insole can be decreased or increased from the very moment of its fabrication. The main characteristic of the pneumatic plantar arch support, making it different from all the other type of supports known until now, is its quality to change its shape according to the foot shape of each individual. While wearing the pneumatic plantar arch support, it changes its form and specific pressure of each point of its surface, so that the support of the foot arch and the increased contact between the foot and the insole is at its maximum all the time: with both feet on the floor or in the case of a unilateral contact with the floor, standing on a single foot. At the same time the air quantity in the pneumatic plantar arch support moves in all directions under the pressure of the body weight; by massaging the plantar surface, it also has a benificial effect on the general state of health of its wearers.
