The present invention provides a pneumatic radial tire with enhanced noise reduction and water releasing ability by trapping air into a circumferential groove formed on the tread as the air therein gets compressed and expanded before it gets release. The pneumatic radial tire with rib-lug type tread pattern is formed by circumferential grooves G1-G5 and several radial grooves G11-G17 which have a certain slant angle to the said circumferential grooves. When both lugs 3,3' are connected, the tread of the pneumatic radial tire will be in the form of zig-zag line and, in order to accomplish efficient trapping and allocation of air, within both lugs 3,3' and each ribs 1a, 1a', 1b, lb' a series of circumferential grooves and axial grooves are provided. Axial grooves G15 are connected at an angle to circumferential grooves G16 to enable water trapped in grooves G16 to be released or dispersed through axial grooves G15.
