A pneumatic tire having a puncture-preventive sealant layer that suppresses the generation of decomposition gas and is high in viscosity; and a method of producing the same. This pneumatic tire has a sealant layer applied to the inner surface thereof, which sealant layer is made of a rubber composition having, as a cobalt component, 0.07-0.5 parts by weight of cobalt salt for 100 parts by weight of rubber containing not less than 80 parts by weight of natural rubber or isoprene rubber.

Ce pneumatique comporte une couche d'un produit de scellement qui est appliquée sur sa surface interne, ladite couche de scellement étant constituée d'une composition de caoutchouc contenant en tant que composant du cobalt, 0,07 à 0,5 parts en poids d'un sel de cobalt pour 100 parts en poids de caoutchouc ne contenant pas moins de 80 parts en poids de caoutchouc naturel ou de caoutchouc isoprène.
