Abstract of the Disclosure Pneumatic tires for heavy-load vehicles, and in particular, radial tires are described wherein at least the tread portion of the tire is prepared from a vulcanizable elastomer composition comprising, as the elastomer component, an elastomer mixture comprising from about 10% to about 90% by weight of a copolymer composition of a 1 ,3-conjugated diene and an aromatic vinyl compound wherein the copolymer composition has a weight average molecular weight of greater than about 100,000, and from about 10% to about 90% of natural rubber. The copolymer compositions are prepared utilizing a trimetalated l-alkyne catalyst. The vulcanizable elastomer compositions preferably also contain from about 25 to about 250 parts by weight of carbon black per 100 parts by weight of the elastomer mixture.
