A method of interacting with Electronic Program Guide (EPG) data in a two- dimensional grid format, where one dimension (typically horizontal) s represents time and the other dimension (typically vertical) represents program source or channel. User input comprises navigation commands to move the selection of an "active" program either "up", "down", "left" or "right". Such commands may cause the new active program to be another program corresponding to a grid cell that is already displayed, or they may cause the new active program to be another program corresponding to a cell not currently displayed in the EPG grid, which in turn causes the times or channels displayed in the grid to change. The invention provides a novel visual indication of an active point in time which forms the basis of a method and system for selecting different active programs during grid navigation.
La présente invention concerne un procédé qui permet d'interagir avec des données de guide de programme électronique (GPE) dans un format de grille à deux dimensions, dans lequel une dimension (horizontale) représente le temps et l'autre dimension (verticale) représente la source de programme ou la chaîne. L'entrée de l'utilisateur comprend des commandes de navigation prévues pour déplacer la sélection d'un programme 'actif ' vers le haut, vers le bas, vers la droite ou vers la gauche. Ces commandes peuvent transformer le nouveau programme actif en un autre programme correspondant à une cellule de grille qui est déjà affichée ou bien peuvent transformer le nouveau programme actif en un autre programme correspondant à une cellule qui n'est pas, à ce moment-là, affichée dans la grille GPE, ce qui à son tour a pour effet de changer les temps ou les chaînes affichés dans la grille. La présente invention donne une nouvelle indication visuelle d'un point actif dans le temps, qui constitue la base d'un procédé et d'un système de sélection de différents programmes actifs pendant la navigation dans la grille.
