A point drive unit (10) is disclosed for driving railway points to move via a connecting means of the points located generally centrally between two of the rails (3) of the railway track. The unit comprises a housing (11, 12) adapted to be installed between the two of the rails; a cylinder (18) enclosing a piston (19) which is moveable for driving the points, the cylinder being mounted within the housing at a location laterally offset to one side of the housing; control means mounted within the housing at a location laterally adjacent the cylinder for controlling the supply of fluid to the cylinder to control the movement of the piston; and an offset coupling (20) for coupling the piston to the connecting means so that the piston is laterally offset from the connecting means.

Cette invention concerne une unité de commande d'aiguillage (10) conçue pour la manoeuvre d'aiguillages de chemins de fer par l'intermédiaire d'un organe de connexion des aiguillages généralement situé au centre de deux des rails (3) d'une voie ferrée. Cette unité comporte un carter (11, 12) conçu pour être installé entre les deux rails, un cylindre (18) abritant un piston (19) qui peut se déplacer de façon à entraîner les aiguillages, ledit cylindre étant installé à l'intérieur du carter en un emplacement latéralement décalé sur un côté du carter, un organe de régulation installé à l'intérieur du carter en un emplacement latéralement adjacent au cylindre et destiné à la régulation de l'alimentation du cylindre en fluide dans le but de réguler le mouvement du piston, et un organe de couplage décalé (20) conçu pour coupler le piston à l'organe de connexion de façon à ce que le piston soit latéralement décalé par rapport à l'organe de connexion.
