A pointing device which can be operated by a disabled person with a declined muscular strength, even when the person lies in a bed, to move a cursor and make a click separately not only by one hand but also by a body portion having a motor function with a light touch without any complex movement and large motion, and which does not need any operation area. The device comprises a flat cursor-moving switch for moving a cursor, a ring-shaped clicking switch for making a right click and a left click, a cloth sheet which is detachably attached to the rear of the cursor-moving switch if necessary and spread on the place where the cursor-moving switch is operated to enable the installation of the cursor-moving switch on a place other than a flat surface, a controller which measures the direction and distance of the movement of the cursor made by the operation of the cursor-moving switch, detects the click made by the operation of the clicking switch, and transmits the data thereon, and cables and connectors with which the controller, the switches and a personal computer are connected to each other. The cursor-moving switch has a structure in which the operation button is returned to the center automatically when not used.

L'invention concerne un dispositif de pointage destiné à être utilisé par une personne handicapée dont la force musculaire est diminuée, même lorsque cette personne est allongée sur un lit. Ce dispositif permet de déplacer un curseur et de cliquer par un mouvement de la main mais aussi de n'importe quelle autre partie du corps avec une fonction motrice, et ce par une simple pression ne nécessitant aucun mouvement ample ou complexe, quelle que soit la zone dans laquelle est placé ce dispositif. Ce dispositif comprend: un bouton plat destiné à déplacer le curseur; un bouton en forme d'anneau sur lequel on peut cliquer à droite ou a gauche; un pan de tissu attaché si nécessaire de manière amovible à l'arrière dudit bouton plat destiné à déplacer le curseur, ce tissu recouvrant la zone sur laquelle ce bouton est utilisé, ce qui facilite l'installation de ce bouton même sur une surface non plate; et un module de commande mesurant la direction et la distance du déplacement du curseur déplacé par ledit bouton plat, ce module permettant en outre de détecter tout clic sur le bouton de cliquage et de transmettre des données. Ce dispositif comprend enfin des câbles et des connecteurs grâce auquels le module de commande, les boutons, et l'ordinateur personnel sont reliés. La structure du bouton plat destiné à déplacer le curseur permet par ailleurs au bouton de commande de retourner automatiquement vers le centre lorsqu'il n'est pas utilisé.
