We describe polarizing agents for use in enhancing NMR and MRI signals via dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP). The polarizing agents include two or more paramagnetic centers, preferably two paramagnetic centers. In a preferred embodiment, the polarizing agent comprises two nitroxide radicals tethered by a polyethylene glycol chain of variable length. Signal enhancements of up to 175 have been achieved in comparison with factors of ~45 at similar concentrations of monomeric radical such as TEMPO.

On décrit des agents polarisants destinés à être utilisés pour améliorer des signaux RMN et IRM par polarisation nucléaire dynamique (DNP). Les agents polarisants comprennent deux ou plusieurs centres paramagnétiques, de préférence deux centres paramagnétiques. Dans un mode de réalisation préféré, les agents polarisants comprennent deux radicaux nitroxide entravés par une chaîne de polyéthyléne glycol de longueur variable. Des améliorations du signal allant jusqu'à 175 ont été réalisées par comparaison avec des facteurs de ~45 mesurés à des concentrations similaires d'un radical monomérique tel que TEMPO.
