ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A police baton with a guard having the a guard near the base end of a gripping portion of a baton main body, wherein the guard of a certain length is attached by way of a hinge mechanism to a baton main body such that the guard can rotate around the central axis of the hinge mechanism and adapted such that it can project sideway from the baton main body or can be folded toward the baton main body at the other end thereof, and the guard has a holding mechanism for holding the guard in a state projected from the baton main body.
