A poly(cyclosiloxane) is synthesized by oxidation with water in the presence of a Pt catalyst, followed immediately by polycondensation of the Si-OH groups to form Si-O-Si linkages. Thus, pentamethylcyclopentasiloxane can be polymerized into poly(pentamethycyclopentasiloxane).

L'invention concerne un poly(cyclosiloxane) synth~tis~ par oxydation ~ l'eau en pr~sence d'un catalyseur Pt, suivie imm~diatement par une polycondensation des groupes Si-OH afin de former des liaisons Si-O-Si. Ainsi, il est possible de polym~riser un pentam~thylcyclopentasiloxane en un poly(pentam~thycyclopentasiloxane).
