ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Novel polyamides and polyalkenes modified therewith are provided herein. The novel polyamides have an acid value below 15, preferably be- low 10, an amine number of 50-200, preferably of 75-150 (all in mg KOH/g) and are built up from groups derived from (A) an aliphatic diamine with 2-3 carbon atoms between the nitrogen atoms; (B) a triamine of the formula Image in which R1 and R3 represent alkylene groups are R2 represents an alkyl group, which groups can contain 1 to 6 carbon atoms; (C) an aliphatic di- carboxylic acid containing 6 to 19 carbon atoms; and (D) a poly- merised fatty acid comprising up to 35, preferably 3-25 mol.% of the total di- carboxylic acids. These novel polyamides make it possible to obtain excel- lent dyeing results with low percentages of additives being added, whereby, moreover, no neutralising step is necessary. Adding low percentages of additives is important because this will as much as possible prevent the additive from affecting the properties of the polyalkene. Thus, it has now been discovered that by modifying polyalkenes with certain novel polyamides, excellent dyeing properties, e.g., colour intensity, colour homogeneity and colour fastness can be obtained.
