ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Novel thermoplastic polyamide blends are provided herein. The blends are provided by blending high molecular weight polyamides with 0.01 to 20% by weight of a particularly specified polyamide derived from high molecular weight dibasic acids. For example, one such polyamide may be ob- tained from the reaction of a high molecular weight aliphatic or cyclco- alphatic dibasic acid having from 18 to 52 carbon atoms and up to 30 weight percent, based on the total dibasic acid charge, of a short-chain, saturated aliphatic dibasic acid having from 2 to 13 carbon atoms with a stoichiometric amount of an aliphatic saturated diamine having from 2 to 10 carbon atoms or with a mixture of such diamines. By this blending step, the flow characteristics and rheological properties of high molecular weight thermoplastic polyamides are significantly improved. This enables the poly- amide resin to be more effectively and efficiently extruded, molded, milled or otherwise processed. The composition also has improved flexibility flexural strength and impact resistance.
