A novel process makes it possible to epoxidize .alpha.,.beta.-unsaturated enones or .alpha.,.beta.-unsaturated sulphones in a two-phase system without addition of water in the presence of an organic solvent, of a base, of an oxidant, of a diastereomer- and enantiomer-enriched homo-polyamino acid which has not been separately preactivated as catalyst, and a specific phase-transfer catalyst as cocatalyst with high conversions and enantiomeric excesses.
