Disclosed is a fiber made of an aromatic polyazole which has high molecular weight while being excellent in mechanical characteristics such as elastic modulus and strength. Also disclosed is a method for producing such a fiber. Specifically disclosed is a fiber made of a polyazole which contains a repeating unit represented by the formula (I) below and has a phosphorus content of not more than 30 ppm. Also specifically disclosed is a method for producing such a fiber. In the formula (I), Ar1 represents a divalent aromatic group having 4-20 carbon atoms, Ar2 represents a tetravalent aromatic group having 4-20 carbon atoms, and X represents O, S or NH.

La présente invention concerne une fibre en polyazole aromatique se distinguant par sa masse moléculaire élevée malgré d'excellentes caractéristiques mécaniques telles que le module élastique et la solidité. L'invention concerne également un procédé de production d'une telle fibre. L'invention concerne plus particulièrement, d'une part une fibre en polyazole contenant une unité de répétition représentée par la formule (I) et dont la teneur en phosphore n'excède pas 30 ppm, et d'autre part le procédé correspondant. Dans la formule (I), Ar1 est groupe aromatique divalent en C4C20, Ar2 groupe aromatique tétravalent en C4C20, X étant O, S ou NH.
