ABSTRACT A polybasic lead compound of the formula xPbO.Pb (trans-CCO-CH=CH-COO) wherein x is a number in the range of 4.5 to 5.8 is disclosed. The compound is particularly useful as a stabilizer for halogen-containing polymers. The preparation of this compound is also disclosed by various known methods. Also disclosed is a composition containing a halogen-containing polymerizate and the above polybasic lead compound.
