The invention relates to polyclonal antibodies which specifically recognise, and have a strong affinity with, the two most significant amyloid peptides, Ab40 and Ab42. The invention also relates to the use thereof in assessing drugs which activate the degradation of amyloid peptides characteristic of Alzheimer's disease as well as drugs which inhibit the formation of same.
