Solid extrusion coating compositions for metal substrates, a method of extrusion coating a metal substrate, and a metal article are disclosed. The extrusion coating composition is a thermoplastic material and comprises: (a) a polyester having a weight average molecular weight of 10,000 to 50,000 and optionally, (b) a modifying resin, selected from epoxy resins having an epoxy equivalent weight of 500 to 15,000, acrylic resins or polyolefin resins. The extrusion coating composition is applied to a metal substrate in an extrusion process to provide a composition film having a thickness of about 1 to about 40 microns.

Cette invention se rapporte à des compositions solides de revêtement par extrusion pour des substrats métalliques, à un procédé de revêtement par extrusion d'un substrat métallique, et à un article métallique ainsi revêtu. Une telle composition de revêtement par extrusion est constituée par un matériau thermoplastique et comprend: (a) un polyester ayant un poids moléculaire moyen en poids compris entre 10000 et 50000 et, éventuellement, (b) une résine modificatrice, choisie parmi les résines époxy ayant un poids équivalent époxy compris entre 500 et 15000, des résines acryliques ou des résines de polyoléfines. Cette composition de revêtement par extrusion est appliquée sur un substrat métallique dans un procédé d'extrusion, afin de former un film de cette composition ayant une épaisseur d'environ 1 à environ 40 microns.
