2132418 9319231 PCTABS00025 Fibres are disclosed composed mainly of polythylene terephthalate containing 0.1 to 5 % by weight, in relation to the polymer of which the fibres are composed, of a 50 to 90 % imidized polymethacrylic acid alkylester, mainly as intercalations. A process for producing melt-spun fibres essentially composed of polyethylene terephthalate by melting then melt-spinning a polymer is characterized in that 0.1 to 5 % by weight, in relation to the polymer of which the fibres are composed, of a polymer that is only partially soluble in the latter, made of a polymethacrylic acid alkylesters 50 to 90 % imidized by reacting polymethacrylic acid alkylesters whose ester group contains an alcohol having 1 to 6 C atoms with a primary amine having 1 to 3 C atoms, and whose acid and/or anhydride content amounts to less than 0.25 milliequivalents per g, and if necessary other additives, are mixed to the polymer of which the fibres are composed before melt-spinning them.
