A polyester for electrophotography derived from (a) at least one component selected from tri- or tetra-basic acid components and tri- or tetra-hydric alcohols; (b) at least one component selected from dibasic carboxylic acids and lower alkyl esters thereof; and (c) at least one component selected from aromatic diols and alicyclic diols wherein the proportion of x (mole %) of component (a) to the whole acid components and the proportion y (mole %) of component (c) to the whole acid components satisfies the following formulae (I) and (2): y < (133m + 51.5n) log x + (60m + 25.43n) (1) y > (253m + 170n) log x - (176m + 162n) (2) wherein 0 ~ y ~ 100, 0.5 ~ x ~ 50, m is a proportion of the tetrabasic acid or alcohol in component (a) (mole %), n is a proportion of the tribasic acid or alcohol in component (a) (mole %), and m+n - 1. The polyester possesses a good resistance to off-setting and good grinding characteristics.

Polyester pour électrophotographie, dérivé : a) d'au moins un constituant sélectionné parmi des composés acides tri- ou tétra-basiques et des alcools tri- ou tétra-hydroxylés; b) d'au moins un constituant sélectionné parmi des acides carboxyliques dibasiques et leurs esters d'alkyle inférieur; c) d'au moins un constituant sélectionné parmi des diols aromatiques et des diols alicycliques, où la proportion de x (% molaire) de constituant (a) sur le total de constituants acides et la proportion de y (% molaire) de constituants (c) sur le total de constituants acides correspond aux formules (I) et (2), soit y < (133m + 51,5n) log x + (60m + 25,43n) (1) y > (253m + 170n) log x - (176m + 162n) (2) avec 0 ~ y ~ 100, 0.5 ~ x ~ 50, m étant la proportion de l'acide tétrabasique ou de l'alcool (a) (% molaire), et n la proportion de l'acide tribasique ou de l'alcool dans le constituant (a) (% molaire), et m+n - 1. Le polyester possède une bonne résistance à l'offsetting et de bonnes caractéristiques de broyage.
