Abstract A polyether polyol having an average hydroxyl value in the range 400 to 650 mgKOH/g which is an alkoxylated derivative of a polyhydric alcohol being itself a single compound or a mixture of compounds according to the general formula (I) Image (I) where R1 is -H, -CH3 or OCH3 R2 is -H, -CH2OH or -CH2 C(CH2OH)3 The polyethers provide advantages when used in the manufacture of polyurethanes especially foams which have improved compression strength, dimensional stability low thermal conductivity and closed cell content.
