Disclosed is a method for producing polyethylene films which have high resistance to deformation or elongation under loading in tension. The method comprises orienting in the machine direction (MD) a high density polyethylene film at a draw-down ratio effective to give the film an MD tensile strength at yield greater than or equal to 50,000 psi, wherein the HDPE has a density greater than 0.940 g/cm3.
L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de produire des pellicules de polyéthylène présentant une résistance élevée à la déformation ou à l'allongement sous l'effet d'un chargement en tension. Ce procédé consiste à orienter dans le sens machine (SM) une pellicule de polyéthylène haute densité à un rapport de striction efficace pour conférer à la pellicule une résistance à la rupture par traction dans le sens machine supérieure ou égale à 50'000 psi, le PEHD ayant une densité supérieure à 0,940 g/cm3.
