Polyethylene molding materials which are particularly suitable for processing by ram extrusion and have an average molecular weight of at least 106 g/mol contain 0.05 to 5.0% by weight, based on the molding material, of a salt of a higher monocarboxylic acid or of a mixture of such salts. The salts or the salt mixtures melt at between 80 and 220°C, and their melt viscosity is not more than 50 Pa.s at the processing temperature of the molding material.
