Novel polyfunctional glyoxylated compounds represented by formula (I) wherein n is a whole positive integer of at least 2; wherein Y is (a), (b) or (c); wherein A is -NH- or -O-; wherein R is the residue of a poly(active hydrogen group)-containing compound after abstraction of n active hydrogen-containing groups, wherein the active hydrogen groups are selected from hydroxyl and amino grops; wherein R3 is hydrogen, an alkyl group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, a hydroxymethyl or an alkoxymethyl group having 2 to 4 carbon atoms; and wherein each R4 is H or an alkyl group having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms; and compositions containing the same are disclosed which are particularly suitable for use as crosslinking components in curable compositions and also find use in imparting wet adhesion properties to water-based paints and coatings. A process for preparing novel polyfunctional glyoxylated compounds is also disclosed.
L'invention concerne de nouveaux composés glyoxylés à fonctions multiples, exprimés par la formule (I) où n est un nombre entier positif, égal à 2 ou plus; où Y est exprimé par la formule (a), (b) ou (c); où A est -NH- ou -O-; où R est le résidu d'un composé contenant un groupe d'hydrogène poly(actif), après extraction de n groupes d'hydrogène actif, où les groupes d'hydrogène actif sont sélectionnés parmi les groupes hydroxyles et amino; où R?3¿ est l'hydrogène, un groupe alkyle possédant de 1 à 4 atomes de carbone, un groupe hydroxyméthyle ou alcoxyméthyle possédant de 2 à 4 atomes de carbone; et où chaque R?4¿ est l'hydrogène ou un groupe alkyle possédant de 1 à 6 atomes de carbone. L'invention concerne également des compositions qui contiennent lesdits composés et qui sont particulièrement bien adaptées à être utilisés comme composants de réticulation dans des compositions durcissantes et peuvent également servir à conférer des propriétés d'adhésion à l'humidité à des peintures et à des revêtements à l'eau. Un procédé de préparation de nouveaux composés glyoxylés à fonctions multiples est également décrit.
