Contrast agents for X-ray radiology having formula (I), wherein Ti, Vi, T'i, V'i, where i = 0, 1 or 2, are O, COND or NDCO where D is H, alkyl or hydroxyalkyl; Qi and Q'i, where i = 0, 1 or 2, are alkylene or hydroxyalkylene; Ari and Ar'i, where i = 1 or 2, are (II) or (III), wherein R, R3 and R4 are COOH, and R', R'3 and R'4 are CONR'1R'2 or N(R'1)COR'2 where R'1 and R'2 are H, C1-4 alkyl or hydroxyalkyl together comprising more than 4 OH, or R1 and R'i, where i = 0, 3 or 4, are CONR'1R'2 and N(R'1)COR'2, R'1 and R'2 together comprising at least 6 OH; or else are T-Q-V-Ar where T, Q and V may have the previous meanings and Ar has formula (II); and A is the residue of a molecule having a molar mass of less than 1200 and comprising two bonds capable of forming an amide or etheroxide group with T0 and T'0.
