Scleral plugs by which drugs can be accurately released in a specified amount to the end. The plugs are made from a mixture of a high-molecular weight polylactic acid having a molecular weight of 40,000 or more with a low- molecular weight polylactic acid having a molecular weight of 40,000 or less and contain drugs for treating or preventing retinal or hyaloid diseases. The mixing ratio of the high-molecular weight polylactic acid to the low-molecular weight polylactic acid preferably ranges from 90/10 to 50/50, still preferably from 90/10 to 70/30, the most desirable ratio thereof being 80/20. The molecular weight of the high-molecular weight polylactic acid preferably ranges from 40,000 to 200,000, while that of the low-molecular weight polylactic acid preferably ranges from 3,000 to 40,000, still preferably from 5,000 to 20,000. The drugs are exemplified by antiulcer agents, antiviral agents, antiinflammatory agents, antifungal agents and antibacterial agents.
Cette invention concerne des bouchons scléraux à travers lesquels des médicaments peuvent être administrés avec précision et dans une quantité prédéterminée au destinataire. Ces bouchons sont faits d'un mélange qui comprend de l'acide polylactique possédant un poids moléculaire élevé de 40.000 ou plus, ainsi que de l'acide polylactique possédant un poids moléculaire faible de 40.000 ou moins. Ces bouchons contiennent également des médicaments permettant de traiter ou de prévenir les affections hyaloïdes ou rétiniennes. Le rapport de mélange entre l'acide polylactique possédant un poids moléculaire élevé et l'acide polylactique possédant un poids moléculaire faible varie de 90/10 à 50/50, de préférence de 90/10 à 70/30, le rapport préféré étant de 80/20. Le poids moléculaire de l'acide polylactique possédant un poids moléculaire élevé varie de préférence de 40.000 à 200.000, tandis que le poids moléculaire de l'acide polylactique possédant un faible poids moléculaire varie de 3.000 à 40.000 et, de préférence, de 5.000 à 20.000. Les médicaments types peuvent consister en des agents anti-ulcéres, en des agents antiviraux, en des agents anti-inflammatoires, en des agents antifongiques et en des agents antibactériens.
