Methods are described for coating a surface of an article with a polymer comprising monomers of p-xylylene, and/or ring halogenated p-xylylene, and/or p- fluoromethyl- xylylene and adsorbing macromolecules thereto. Reaction vessels comprising such polymer-coated surfaces and macromolecules adsorbed thereto are useful for adsorption and solid-phase separation of reactants in analytical methods.
