T 843 A B S T R A C T POLYMER LATICES FROM VINYL ACETATE AND VINYL ESTERS OF BRANCHED CHAIN CARBOXYLIC ACIDS The invention provides polymers vinyl pivalate, a vinyl ester of a branched chain carboxylic acid having in the acid moiety 10 carbon atoms and vinyl acetate obtainable by emulsion polymer- ization in the presence of a protecting colloid; latices containing such polymers and their preparation; coating compositions compris- ing such latices; and solid polymeric products such as redisper- sible latex powders formed by physical drying of such latices. The above polymers provide attractive combination of proper- ties to latices and coatings.
