- 50 - ABSTRACT The present invention relates to a coating composition especially suitable for a base coat, which contains a specific polymer microparticle having a sedimentation ratio of not more than 50 % by weight when one part by weight of said polymer microparticle is agitated with xylene or a mixed solvent of xylene butyl alcohol 100 parts by weight at at least one ratio of the xylene/butyl alcohol mixing ratio of from 100/0 - 50/50 by weight at 20 °C for 30 minutes, and then centrifuged at 17000 r.p.m. at 20 °C for 30 minutes, by which a coating composition excellent in the sagging property and giving a coat excellent in the appearance can be obtained.
