In order to produce a polymer mixture essentially consisting of starch and a polyolefine, up to 70 wt % of thermoplastically processable starch is mixed with 10 to 40 wt % polyolefine and to 35 wt % ethylene acrylate maleic anhydride copolymer. During this mixing process an esterification reaction takes place between the maleic anhydride groups in the copolymer with free hydroxyl groups in the starch according to the general reaction process (T).
