ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Water containing a polymer and, optionally, a surfactant is used as the water in a WAG process using CO2. The polymer functions as a water thickening agent. Slugs of CO2 and water containing polymer are injected into an underground formation to miscibly displace oil which could not economically be recovered by primary or secondary water flooding techniques.
