One group of polymers comprise repeat units of Structural Formula (I) and/or (II) where: R is -H or a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, acyl or aryl group; Rings A and B are substituted with at least one tert-butyl group, 1- ethenyl-2-carboxylic acid group or ester thereof, substituted or unsubstituted alkylenedioxy group, or substituted or unsubstituted n-alkoxycarbonyl group and optionally additional functional groups; Ring B is additionally substituted with at least one -H; n is equal to or greater than 2; and p is equal to or greater than 0. The polymer typically includes at least two substituted benzene repeat units that are directly connected by C-C or C-O-C bonds between benzene rings. Alternatively, each repeat unit of the polymer is an antioxidant. The invention also includes methods of making and using these and related polymers, particularly as antioxidants.
Un groupe de polymères comporte des unités répétées répondant à la formule développée (I) et/ou (II), dans laquelle R représenteH ou un groupe alkyle, acyle ou aryle éventuellement substitué ; les cycles A et B sont substitués par au moins un groupe tert-butyle, un groupe acide 1-éthényl-2-carboxylique ou son ester, un groupe alkylènedioxy éventuellement substitué, ou un groupe n-alcoxycarbonyle éventuellement substitué, et éventuellement des groupes fonctionnels supplémentaires ; le cycle B est également substitué par au moins un H ; n est égal ou supérieur à 2 ; et p est égal ou supérieur à 0. Ce polymère comprend habituellement au moins deux unités répétées benzéniques substituées reliées directement par des liaisons C-C ou C-O-C entre les cycles benzéniques. Sinon, chaque unité répétée du polymère est un anti-oxydant. La présente invention se rapporte également à des procédé de fabrication et de mise en oeuvre de ces polymères et de polymères associés, notamment à titre d'anti-oxydants.
